John 14:1–14
Theme: Jesus is the Way to the Father—our peace, our path, and our promise.

Peace for Troubled Hearts 1 “Don’t let your heart be troubled—don’t give in to fear or anxiety. You trust in God; now trust in me as well. 2 My Father’s house has more than enough room—plenty of places to dwell and belong. If that weren’t true, I would’ve told you plainly. I’m going there ahead of you to prepare a space just for you.

The Promise of Reunion 3 And if I go to prepare that place, you can be sure of this: I will come again, and I will bring you to be with me—so that wherever I am, you’ll be too. 4 And you already know the road that leads to where I’m going.”

The Way, the Truth, the Life 5 Then Thomas said, “Lord, we don’t know where you’re going. How can we possibly know the way? 6 Jesus answered him, “I am the way. I am the truth. I am the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you’ve really known me, then you’ve already begun to know my Father too. From now on, you do know Him—because you’ve seen Him in me.”

To See Jesus is to See the Father 8 Philip spoke up and said, “Lord, just show us the Father—that’s all we need.” 9 Jesus replied, “Philip, after all this time with you—don’t you recognize who I am? If you’ve seen me, you’ve seen the Father. So how can you ask me to show you the Father? 10 Don’t you believe that I live in the Father and the Father lives in me? These words I speak to you—they’re not mine alone. The Father who lives in me is doing His work through me. 11 Trust me when I say: I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or if that’s hard to grasp, then believe because of the things you’ve seen—the miracles themselves.

Empowered to Continue His Work 12 I’m telling you an unshakable truth: anyone who trusts in me will do the works I’ve been doing—and even greater ones—because I’m going to the Father. 13 And whatever you ask in my name, I will do it. That’s how the Son brings honor to the Father—by doing what you ask in my name. 14 So ask—really ask—in my name, and I will do it.”
